A sumptuous single-vineyard chardonnay from Green Valley, a Russian River sub-appellation in western Sonoma County. Here, fog drifts across Gold Ridge soil, a fine sandy loam that is the remains of an ancient inland sea. Good drainage means the vines struggle a bit, and this wine knows what it wants to be.
The 2015 Cresta Ridge Chardonnay opens with wonderfully savory notes of baking bread, yeast extract, roasted almonds and nutmeg over a core of pineapple, pear tart and peach cobbler plus a waft of mandarin peel. Medium-bodied, all those savory layers fill the palate and are framed by wonderful freshness and a satiny texture, finishing with great length.
Drink now through 2026.
