Our single-vineyard Estate Pinot Noir is karma in a bottle. When we opened our old Westside Road tasting room, the vineyard out front was in dire shape. So we faithfully lavished the vines with care, and achieved biodynamic certification - not knowing whether the grape would ever reflect our efforts. After several lackluster seasons, the vines delivered an astonishingly high caliber of Pinot Noir. We have since left behind the significant challenges and charms of that location. And we have come back home to the bucolic property where we were born, with this lesson encapsulated in glass: Some things we can control, some things we cannot, but our intentions always matter, becuae they will ripen.
The 2015 Pinot Noir VML Estate is pale to medium ruby-purple colored and simply sings with crushed red cherries, pomegranate and black raspberry notes plus underlying potpourri, dried herbs and lavender suggestions and a waft of baking spices. Full-bodied with tons of expressive red and black fruit flavors, it has a grainy frame and background freshness, finishing long and spicy.
