We produced just a few barrels of the single-vineyard 2015 Sexton Pinot Noir. A selection of rare clones in this vineyard, including Jackson 9 and 828, make the Sexton stand apart. This wine debuted in 2012 and quickly became sought after. It is primarily purchased during barrel tasting as futures.
Upon opening, we find aromatics of strawberry, black cherry, and sandalwood. The palate is a firm bite of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, with hints of black tea and forest floor. The oak barrel is beautifully incorporated and the finish is lasting. A harmonious expression of thick-skinned grapes enduring cool, wet coastal weather.
A vineyard designate wine is crafted with meticulous farming and artisan winemaking techniques to capture the essence of that vineyard, that year. Every grape in the bottle comes from one small plot of land. These limited-production wines represent vineyards we love for their exceptional quality and character.
