We produced just a few barrels of the single-vineyard 2015 Sexton Pinot Noir. A selection of rare clones in this vineyard, including Jackson 9 and 828, make the Sexton stand apart. This wine debuted in 2012 and quickly became sought after. It is primarily purchased during barrel tasting as futures. Upon opening, we find aromatics of strawberry, black cherry, and sandalwood. The palate is a firm bite of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, with hints of black tea and forest floor. The oak barrel is beautifully incorporated and the finish is lasting. A harmonious expression of thick-skinned grapes enduring cool, wet coastal weather.
Left on the lees for an extra 8 months, the Black Edition sparkling has soft notes of almond macaroon, brandied peaches and frangipane. The nose highlights bright notes of pome fruit, slate and mandarin.
This Rose of Pinot Noir is an extremely pretty wine with alpine strawberry, cantaloupe and hints of clementine citrus on the nose. The palate bursts with juicy watermelon, rich cherry, dried apricot and finishes with a bright acidity.
The 2015 VML Gewürztraminer has a delicate bouquet of gardenia, jasmine and honeysuckle. Complemented by grapefruit, key lime and white peach on the palate, this holiday favorite finishes honeyed and with a hint of minerality.
