Making great wine doesn’t tell the whole story. You’ve got to build a team that shares a contagious passion for VML, really cares about our customers’ experience, and has a heartfelt pride in our community. And while we always have our feet on the ground, the beauty and grace that infuses our work could be interpreted as heavenly inspiration so we thought it would be fun to share our staff’s astrological influences with you. After all, humans have turned to the heavens for answers over millennia. From ancient China through the Greeks and on into today, we have been tracking the movement of the stars and constellations to help make sense of our earthly experiences. What’s your sign?
Ross Reedy absolutely loves what he does. “I get to work with inspiring people, my job is dynamic and challenging, and I really love the wines we make,” says Reedy. He became fascinated with the craft as a teenager while making wine at home with his father from their vineyard in Alexander Valley. By the time he was 18, he had made up his mind to pursue his passion full time. Reedy studied Wine and Viticulture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, while simultaneously gaining real-world experience at a boutique winery in Paso Robles. After graduation in 2005, he traveled the world- chasing the perfect grape harvest. Stints in cellars, vineyards, and winemaking labs across Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, and Napa Valley eventually led him back to Sonoma County, where he accepted a permanent position with VML.
I once read that Aquarians are “self imposed loners.” Not sure if I’m a loner in my life, but for some reason I’ve always identified with it. We have also been called fiercely independent (so true!) and on our best days, creative, compassionate, and optimistic. On our worst days though, we can be selfish, distant, and purposefully esoteric (guilty as charged!). In a perfect world, I’m more the former than the latter, and I seek to live a life of love, imagination, and passion.
When Ross is not immersed in the creative exploration and the technical challenges of making ultra-premium wines, he can be found spending time with his family, playing guitar, and fishing.
